Lee Valley White Water Course Private Hire - Led Club Activity

This is a private hire of Lee Valley Legacy for PADDLEBOARDERS ONLY, those wanting to kayak please book onto the later session

Coaching Opportunity: As this is an introduction course the session will be fully coached and open to all club members. Ideally participants should have a strong forward paddle and MUST be able to perform a self rescue unaided.

Due to the nature of the course and permitted places, we are only allowed to have 12 paddleboarders on the course at any one time.

Equipment: you can bring your own Paddleboards but they must be under 11foot in length, we have a couple of club WW Paddleboards, but also normal club boards can be used if needed.

Experience the Thrill of White Water:

As this is a private hire and so you do not need to have completed the assessment to be able to paddle the course.

This is a great course for wanting to improve their skills, move from flat water to white water, or practice the skills required for the Olympic course. Spectators and on the bank support will be welcome to join us (no charge to spectators & on the bank support.)

Lee Valley White Water Centre:

The centre was built for the London 2012 Olympic Games, operating as a community resource in the lead up to – and following – the event. The centre contains a 300m Olympic canoe slalom course, and a 160m intermediate course.

The Legacy Loop, which will be used, is a 160-metre-long grade 3 rapid with a drop of 1.6 meters in height. This rapid is fed by three pumps supplying 10,500 litres of water per second.

Expert Guidance:

The Legacy Loop offers a dynamic environment which replicates Grade Two Whitewater features suitable for all levels. If you are a regular to the annual Cardington or the Nene, this is the next step up in white water.

This is suitable for paddlers comfortable in the moving water; an Intermediate paddler will find less technical areas to build confidence, while experienced paddlers can tackle more challenging features to push their limits.

There will be provided bank safety within the group of paddlers as well as on the water advice and coaching throughout the session, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.

Parking Information:

Ample parking is available on-site, but please remember to sign your car in at the visitor centre to avoid parking fees.

PCC MEMBERS £35.00 per person
NON PCC MEMBERS £40.00 per person

Skills level Required:

You must also be able to self rescue to get back on your SUP.

You must be able to swim 50m unaided.

You must have a solid forward paddle stroke and be able to stand on flat water.

Club Equipment: Equipment is available to borrow, for Pirates CC Members) please make sure you book it out with the Quartermaster and collect at least 2 week in advance of use if away from Lake and deliver it back within 1 week after use.

By Signing up to this event, you are confirming you are have the paddle ability stated in the event details, this could be a self rescue, a specific PUK craft award or skills of equal level.

The coach/leader/Instructor is viewed as being responsible for leading the session, managing safety, enforcing rules and making informed decisions in response to changing conditions or emergencies.

Participants are expected to follow the instructions of the coach/leader/instructor, to act responsibly, follow club rules, support each other and the general safety of all participants

"Unsupervised paddle group" in PCC terms is a group of at least 3 paddlers, they must be of PPA level ability and are responsible for themselves whilst on the water. They are not supervised by a coach/leader directly, but a coach/leader is on the water or on the bank during the session and have given a briefing before launch is allowed. An unsupervised paddle group cannot be made up just of juniors. Refer to welfare policies.
