A peer paddle that includes sea and river sections.
We will start at Pett Level and we will travel along the coast to the Rother estuary where we will join the Rother. With the tide behind us we will paddle down the Rother, passing through Rye Harbour and Rye town, to Scots Floating Sluice Lock, where we will get out. This is a 16km paddle, half of which is on the sea and half on the tidal part of the Rother.
This paddle is suitable for adult members with a sea or crossover kayak who have attended at least 1 sea journey (for example the recent St Margaret's Bay to Langdon Bay trip). It is likely to be cold and this will impact your ability to paddle so we must impress the importance of understanding the length of the paddle and your own abilities before you register for this trip.
Suitable clothing, is essential along with food and drink (preferably hot). Members who want to go but do not have a suitable kayak, can contact Keith White, who my be able to provide one (the club do not have any of these).
We will meet at Scots Floating Sluice Lock at 09:30 to leave some vehicles their and then travel onto Pett Level for the launch. Anyone interested will need to register by Monday 4th February. This will give us sufficient time to organise boats and ensure we will have vehicles in the correct place.
