Pirates Canoe Club relies heavily upon the help of volunteers in order to run kayaking whilst maintaining the low membership fees.
PCC has an aspiration to be able to provide a full programme of training and support for volunteers. This includes a free Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check (previously known as Criminal Records Bureau (CRB)), free support and mentoring relevant to your role, and the opportunity to apply for funding to gain formal coaching qualifications. We will give you a full induction to your role, and ensure you enjoy your time spent volunteering with us.
There are many essential tasks that need to be completed on a regular basis which we rely upon volunteers for. Some jobs are more specialist than others but we will ensure you receive clear instruction, support and supervision as appropriate.
If you wish to be involved then please contact us.
We are always seeking the support of qualified kayaking Instructors and also assistance from those that are experienced in these sports.
PCC relies heavily upon the help of volunteers to keep costs low for our members and enable us to take on so many sessions and projects.
Over the years, PCC has trained its most enthusiastic and committed watersports participants through their personal skills awards and sent them on courses to gain nationally recognised National Governing Body (NGB) coaching awards in kayaking and canoeing.
Many of these people are our current coaches and the instructors of tomorrow. Some of these people are now employed in the outdoor industry full-time or part-time.
If you have the time available and this appeals to you, then PCC can help you attain this goal.
You will need:
There are numerous certificates that you can gain in-house and then, when we think you are ready for it, we can guide to towards courses to gain NGB coaching certificates such as UKCC BC Paddlesports Instructor and Core Coach courses.
