Saturday's at Conningbrook lake

As the nights draw in, with Autumn fast approaching, we are going to offer Saturday morning sessions at the lake.

All current members will have access to the lake, while we will be running the new member sessions.

This is a peer led session, so we ask you to look after each other on the water.

-----------------------

The access point of Conningbrook as changed and so has the parking arrangements. You can drive down to drop off boats/kit, however you will need to park in the  newly laid access road. There is limited spaces but if we park sensibly we will be able to accommodate everyone.

Location of the access drive can be found here.

PLEASE NOTE.

There are NO official changing facilities onsite. You will either have to get changed by your car or under the shelter by the lake. This is not ideal, I know, but this is what we have to work with. Please consider other facility users (Families / Walkers) when getting changed.

The sessions will be around 2 hours so don't forget a drink and snack.

This session is suitable for all members who can paddle in a straight line for 50m and perform a self rescue*.

Organiser: Malcolm Oates

Group leaders: Malcolm Oates and Sammy Deans

Please bring your own equipment if you have it, however we now have access to our store boats.

You can now paddle other craft like a Stand up paddle Board or one of the club canoes.

* A self rescue is generally an eskimo roll or swimming to the bank with your boat and paddle, retrieving it from the water and getting back in unassisted. This can be taught in the skills session
