Update: conditions are looking good. It's likely to be lightly raining which should keep the crowds away and the waves are forecast to be the best they have been all week.
Day trip to Joss Bay
Oh we do like to be beside the sea side... Oh we like to be beside the sea...
We are heading to Joss Bay for a multi craft club trip. Weather permitting there might even be an opportunity to hone your surf skills.
We plan to be on the water for 10:00 to beat the crowds for the car park. We'll stay a minimum of 2 hours but if the conditions are good we may hang around for longer so bring plenty to eat and drink.
It will likely/hopefully be hot and sunny so dress accordingly and don't forget the suncream!
There is a public car park and toilets on site, along with a small Cafe. There is sometimes free parking on the road opposite and an overflow in the field across the road.
These sessions are suitable for all members who can paddle in a straight line for 50m and perform a self-rescue**.
We welcome family members to enjoy the beach, however, the Club is not responsible for them on the water...
Organiser: Tony Hogben & Yvonne Lehnert
Group leaders:
SUP - Paul Evans, supported by Yvonne Lehnert
Sea Kayaks - Douglas Hicks
Kayaks - Jill Evans, supported by the dynamic duo
Please bring your own equipment, otherwise you will need to book it from the Quartermaster Equipment Hire
** A self-rescue is generally an eskimo roll/rescue or swimming to the bank with your boat and paddle, retrieving it from the water and getting back in unassisted. This can be taught in the skills session.
