Do you want the skills to stay out of trouble?
Want to know what to do if either you or others fall into the water?
Then the Foundation Safety and Rescue Training could be for you!
This course is aimed at providing paddlers with a range of rescue skills so they can deal with any scenarios which could occur while they're on the water.
This is a British Canoeing affiliated course, so please take a look at the course syllabus which can be found here:
https://www.britishcanoeing.org.uk/courses/foundation-safety-and-rescue-training
During this course we will look at the different types of tools used in a rescue and what these may be used for, such as throw lines, tow lines, knives, webbing, and karabiners.
We also will cover executing rescues and self rescues in a range of craft including: kayaks, sea kayaks, sit on tops, canoes and Stand Up Paddleboards.
We strongly advise all paddlers who are enthusiastic about being on the water, in canoes or kayaks, to take part in this course. As a club, we feel that it is essential to know how to rescue yourself, and others, should things go wrong whilst afloat.
