I hope you can join me this coming Thursday for a Peer paddle on the Military Canal. We will meet 10:30, where Twist Road Hythe crosses the canal (what three words; ///overlooks.premises.varieties). We will paddle to the dam and call in at Unit 1 on the way back for a hot coffee, and more if you want it. The total return distance is 6.5 miles, so it is open to members who can bring along a kayak, and are comfortable that they can paddle the distance. The put in location is tight and at the bottom of a bank, so would be difficult for sea kayaks and those not agile on their feet. You will need to make your own arrangement for collecting any club equipment you my need.
It is likely that we will have some rain during the paddle, but temperatures will be well above freezing. You will still need to be appropriately dressed and I would suggest you bring a hot drink and a snack to eat. I would expect the total time of the journey, including stopping at Unit 1, will be around 4 hours.
