Park and Play - River Medway

To compliment the trip to Dartmoor trip and because it's half term, we are running an park and play session on the Medway. Ideally this will be at Yalding however we may need to move locations to Teston or Hartlake if there is no water flowing through the arches at Medway

The aim of the session will be to introduce everyone to moving water looking at breaking into and out of an flow, ferry gliding and a little surfing.

We will be doing this below the bridge at Yalding (or another location) when the sluice gate open up, when the gate is shut we can look at paddling skills.

As this is half term week this session is open to all club members inc juniors; all we ask is that you ensure they have amply clothing to keep them warm and dry if they fall in.

* We are now using WHAT3WORD when giving out meet up locations; it provides a more precis location for more remote sites that we use. If you do not already have it on your phone, we strongly advise downloading the app, its free so no reason not to have it. It is also used by emergency services throughout the southeast and can be given as a location reference when needing their services. (https://what3words.com/)

** A self-rescue is generally an eskimo roll/rescue or swimming to the bank with your boat and paddle, retrieving it from the water and getting back in unassisted. This can be taught in the skills session.
