Darnet Fort

Located in the River Medway, the Darnet Fort was constructed between 1870 and 1872.  It was part of a defence system for the Chatham Dockyard.

We will be launching from Gillingham Strand so that the trip is suitable for crossover and sea kayaks.  We aim to paddle around Hoo Island, on to the Fort, stop for lunch and a chance to explore and then return.

Although based in the River Medway, this part of the river is subject to tidal flows and increased traffic. You must be comfortable paddling for 2 hours and have paddled on the sea.

Rob Davis, a local Sea Kayak Leader, is organising and running this trip for us. There is a charge of £20 per person. This is non-refundable, unless the trip is cancelled due to bad weather.

Launch point and times will be confirmed nearer the date.

Don't forget to book equipment if you need it!

Paddlesport has inherent risks associated with it.  By registering for this event you are acknowledging these risks.
